Why Children?

Have you ever come across children begging, picking up trash, selling goods at traffic signals or working as labours at dhabas and factories?? Have you ever wandered about the lives of these children? What they actually do for their survival? In reality, most of these children neither have parents or homes to go back too nor the resources to live a hygienic life. So, let’s make a difference together as giving is not just about making a donation, it’s about making a Difference.

About Hero

At 472 million, children account for 40% of India’s population

And yet, only 2.46% of the 2021-22 Union Budget was allocated to their development and welfare. In fact, the National Plan of Action for Children recommends that budgetary allocations for children should be 5% of the country’s GDP – ours has been stagnant at 0.43% of GDP for the last two years.

The Importance Of Children’s Rights

Children’s Rights takes into account the needs, wants and overall well-being required by the children depending upon the necessity for their growth. Indian Constitution provides the Right to Identity, Health, Education, Family Life, Protection from Violence , Armed Conflict and Exploitation and Right to Opinion to the Children. We as an Organization at GGE, aims to leave a long – term impact on the lives of hundreds of children by practising on these rights.

1. Child Education

All the children have Right to Education irrespective of their race, caste, religion and community. So,let’s erase this difference between the underprivileged and privileged by giving the gift of education to these children for their better future. Education helps the children in learning new things and developing skills which makes them a better individual. Education also serves as a necessity as it provides the better vision in understanding and exploring the world.

Each one,Teach one

We at GGE, promotes the methodology of “Each One, Teach One” whereby we aim to educate the underprivileged children. You can be a part of this mission too. Come and Join us to give the gift of Education.

School Readiness

It has been observed that Anganwadi centres play a big role in preparing children for formal primary school. They help children develop the skills, knowledge and attitudes which are critical for them to succeed in school as well as late in life. Building the capacity of Anganwadi workers thus becomes a key area of intervention.

Learning Outcomes

Learning outcomes are influenced by children’s uninterrupted access to quality education. Ensuring that children are enrolled in school and don’t drop out before completing their education age appropriately is thus a critical area of intervention.

Health & NutritionRight to Survival

“A healthy mind resides in a healthy body” For children, the right to health is vital for their survival. Proper nutritional sources and primary healthcare facilities are the most essential things needed to live a healthy life. We belive hat no child should sleep hungry ever and should not suffer from malnutrition or poor health irrespective of their socio-economic status.

GGE does this by focusing on the following:

Seva

We work upon the approach to reduce malnutrition and thus, we often run food drives for the children and needy people. We believe in doing SEWA (help drive) by distributing ration, household items, cooked and packed food to the needy people.

Growth Monitoring

Regular growth monitoring for children till the age of 6 years is imperative to ensure healthier childhoods. Implementing infant and young child feeding (IYCF) practices, addressing gender discrimination to enable equitable access to primary healthcare and ensuring the completion of immunization schedules to manage preventable diseases are critical areas of intervention.

Learning Outcomes

The effort to change behaviours and attitudes on the issues of children’s health and nutrition is most effective when introduced early. Engaging with adolescent girls and boys on topics like reproductive child health (RCH) helps in bringing about lasting generational change.

3.Right To Protection

Under Article 19 , children have the right to be protected from physical and mental violence, neglect, sexual abuse and exploitation. Sometimes, exposure to unsafe environment leaves a negative impact on the children which impacts them emotionally and mentally. We believe in building a healthy and secure environment for all children till they become adults(18+).

Health & NutritionRight To Survival

Proper nutrition and quality primary healthcare are essential for a child’s physical, mental and cognitive development. Timely, regular and adequate intake of essential nutrition is necessary from the time of conception itself to avoid long-term and in some cases, irreversible damage to the child’s health.

We believe that no child should suffer from malnutrition or poor health irrespective of their socio-economic background.

Our health and nutrition programs adopt a preventative and a responsive approach towards reducing malnourishment as well as India’s infant mortality rate (IMR), child mortality rate (CMR) and maternal mortality rate (MMR).

CRY does this by focusing on the following:

Prenatal & Postnatal Care

Proper and timely care for expectant as well as lactating mothers is crucial for a child’s healthy development. Quality prenatal care that reduces the risk of pregnancy complications, institutional deliveries that aid healthy live births and regular postnatal check ups that encourage breastfeeding are key areas of intervention.
